Skaven, alongside Chaos worshippers and huge bosses, the games made for a great amount of fun for four players. Allowing players to cut down hordes of rat-men, a.k.a. Warhammer: Vermintide and Vermintide 2 proved to be incredibly successful co-op action games set in the fantasy portion of the famous Warhammer universe. Revealed in July of 2020, Darktide places players in a hive city that has been overtaken by Warhammer's Chaos god Nurgle. Darktide, the next game in Fatshark's lineup, sought to do just that. The most logical option seemed for the games to transition from the grimdark fantasy setting of Warhammer to its equally dark sci-fi setting, Warhammer 40,000. The team is no doubt hoping lightning will strike twice as they leave the fantasy world behind for this grimdark sci-fi setting.With it being so long since Vermintide 2 initially dropped and the Warhammer Fantasy setting having officially reached its end, many were wondering where Fatshark would go next. That said, those hoping to see Vermintide 3 in the near future may have a long wait ahead of them with Fatshark currently focusing its efforts on taking their four player co-op formula to the far future in Warhammer 40,000: Darktide. That kind of passion hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Warhammer community, who eagerly await what may be coming next for the series. “Overall, Vermintide 2 offers a brilliant core game bolstered by years of updates, content, and support from its developers. We revisited Vermintide 2 recently and had a fantastic time once again. If you are a Vermintide owner, then you’ll get a free Devoted Rejects Pack of cosmetics for Darktide. There will at least be the second level after Trail of Treachery, but you’d expect them to shift resources to keep supporting the Dark Millennium successor. It’s not clear how much longer this content train will continue, with Fatshark close to the release of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide on 30th November – pre-orders can play early with a beta on 17th November.
